Join us for our next Tongues of Fire event! Dr. Marco Emerson, professor of Theology at Thomas Aquinas College, will be speaking on “Discerning Family Life”. The event will include a talk, Q&A session, and mingling with old and new friends!
After graduating from Thomas Aquinas College in 1997, Dr. Emerson discerned his vocation at St. Michael’s Abbey in Silverado, California. Taking the religious name of Juan Diego, he spent several years with the Norbertines. After a lengthy period of discernment, however, he began sensing a deep and enduring call to the married life. It became clear that his vocation was not to the priesthood. Crediting the counsel of his abbot and spiritual directors, Dr. Emerson left the seminary. He moved to Washington, D.C., to attend the Dominican House of Studies, and there, at a dinner party, met his future wife, Susanna.
In due time, the couple married and relocated to South Bend, Indiana where he pursued a doctorate in theology at the University of Notre Dame. Over the next years, the Emersons were blessed with six children. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Emerson joined the Thomas Aquinas College faculty on Convocation Day 2014.
The event will be held at Anna’s Cider on May 15th at 6:30pm. See you there!
